Brand:Moondani (https://www.moondani.com.au) Name: Waratah Colours: Black and Red Blend: 60/40 Cotton/Tencel GSM: 285 Suits ages/weights: Newborn and up Suitable For: Someone with a small amount of wrapping experience due to glide.
As usual when wraps come to play my kids are both sleeping, so I unwrapped Waratah ready to use with Greta our demo doll. My first thoughts are “oh shiny” There’s a striking contrast between the red and black and the red shines. It feels soft in hand with a lot of bumpy texture, different from other Moondani I have tried. Just as I began to wrap Greta the smallest toddler woke up, and she was in a perfect state of not wanting to be put down so up she went for sleepy cuddles. I managed to do a perfect FWCC TUB and the passes just slid happily into place. Weighing in at 285gsm there’s enough cush that it didn’t feel diggy on my shoulders with a 12kg toddler, and despite the glide there was no sagging of the wrap. I was happily impressed.
My next try of Waratah came as I tried to wrestle an unwilling toddler into a ruck whilst she was determined to get back onto the swings. I’m sad to say I’m a little disappointed with Waratah here. Despite the beautiful texture the passes just kept slipping and wouldn’t stay put against an unwilling toddler, and I think this is where 40% tencel content is to blame; it gives amazing shine and glide but is unforgiving for angry kids. But as I usually have a very compliant wrapper I won’t let it put me off. Unfortunately I injured my spine a couple of days later so haven’t been able to give Waratah a true work out on a long walk to asses for sagging and slip over time, but I hope she’ll come back to me for another play when I am healed. Thanks to Georgie and Anabella for their images :)
